Descriptif
Air Liquide is committed to the energy transition, in particular to decarbonize industry and heavy transport. Air Liquide has been developing carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies for 15 years with the Cryocap™ solution. Air Liquide has a large test laboratory and pilot at the Innovation Campus Paris, to innovate in the field of CO2 capture using a Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) process. Air Liquide has an adsorption process simulation tool that allows to optimize cycles and to design industrial units. Adsorption processes are typically simulated using numerical resolution methods that do not account for potential chemical reactions. This can lead to inaccuracies and discrepancies in the simulations.
This research project aims to develop a code for dynamic simulations, integrating catalytic conversion into adsorption process simulations via PROSIM. The study focuses on a representation of the adsorption process (PSA or TSA), a widely used gas separation technology for CO2 capture. This multi-software approach is crucial for accurately modeling and accounting for the complex chemical reactions that occur within the PSA system. This detailed simulation will provide valuable insights for optimizing operational parameters and designing more efficient systems for various industrial applications.
The objectives of the proposed placement are:
* running a literature review on catalysis reactions in adsorption processes ;
* developing of Python program ;
* comparing the performances of the simulated process with experiment pilot ;
Profils
* Final year engineering school student in process engineering or generalist with a process engineering option.
* Knowledge in programming (Python, Fortran, etc.)
* Process simulation software use (Aspen Hysys, Aspen Plus, Prosim, PROII, etc.)
* Knowledge of adsorption and catalysis is a plus.
* Curiosity, autonomy and proactivity
